From Matthies: "Barber, in his Historical Collections, mentions an apple tree which stood on the farm of Solomon Marsh. The tree was supposed to be one hundred and sixteen years old in 1838 and was in vigorous condition, having borne in 1835 one hundred bushels of fine quality apples. The circumference of its trunk at two feet from the ground was eleven feet, five inches, and the circumference of its branches was nearly eleven rods in extent."
