Remarks

From Matthies's book: "In 1760 half an ounce of mulberry seed was sent to each parish in the state to encourage the raising of silkworms for the production of silk. A number of these trees in Guilford gave Mulberry Point its name. But one of the trees remains. Incidentally, Guilford was the first town to set the example of care for trees when in 1646 she forbade anyone to cut down trees in front of the meetinghouse."

Notes
