Remarks

From Matthies's book: "Brigadier General Burbeck, a captain of artillery in the Revolutionary War, purchased a house, built in 1735, at 32 Main Street about 1815 and it remained in the family for seventy-five years. Four noble elms stood in front of the house and were often called the 'Four Sisters Elms.' James Baxter, a druggist, planted them in 1816 and named them Johanna, Catherine, Sophia, and Sarah, after his daughters."
