Location

AddressNathan Hale Schoolhouse, 29 Main Street, East Haddam CT 06423
DirectionsTree is located at the top of the hill near the schoolhouse. A sign next to the tree gives the history of the Charter Oak.

Remarks

This Charter Oak scion is located on the property of the Nathan Hale Schoolhouse in East Haddam, which is owned and operated by the Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. According to the sign that stands next to the tree: "William H. Scoville (1857-1911), a former East Haddam Representative to the State General Assembly and member of the State Labor Commission, brought home some acorns from the State's famous tree in 1899. His mother, Mary Ufford Scoville, planted the acorns and nursed one along to the sapling stage. She then transplanted it to the lawn of the schoolhouse in 1902 where it stands today."

Notes

This is a Charter Oak descendant.
